Overview
A conversational assistant for turning rough ideas into drafts, explanations, and practical next steps.
What is free, and what should you check?
OpenAI describes ChatGPT as an AI agent you communicate with in natural language. Its documentation distinguishes everyday conversations in Chat from longer outcome-focused tasks in Work.
A practical starting workflow
Draft a welcome email, ask for an explanation of unfamiliar code, or turn your own meeting notes into a checklist. Define the deliverable first so you can judge whether the answer is useful.
Example prompt to adapt
Rewrite this customer email in a warm, direct tone. Keep the appointment date, price, and promises exactly as written. Return a revised draft, then list every factual detail you preserved.
How to judge the result
Compare the rewritten email with your original. Check names, prices, dates, and implied commitments. If the assistant adds a discount or promise, remove it before sending.
Limitations and who it may suit
Do not assume every feature shown in a demonstration is available on your account. Access depends on the selected plan and product surface. Check the current plan screen before building a recurring workflow around uploads, integrations, or other features.
Useful when you can supply context, review the output, and iterate. If you need an exact word count, formatting conversion, or mathematical validation, use a deterministic tool alongside the assistant.
