Overview
A visual design workspace for building graphics and combining editable layouts with AI-assisted features.
What is free, and what should you check?
Canva’s help documentation says Free accounts can access some AI features with limited usage. Features that require a paid plan prompt an upgrade. A free design account should not be read as unlimited access to all AI tools.
A practical starting workflow
Start with a social graphic that needs a clear headline, one visual, and a booking or purchase action. Use editable text for contact details rather than asking an image generator to render them inside artwork.
Example prompt to adapt
Create three layout ideas for a landscape social post for a local service. Reserve clear space for the business name, city, phone, and website. Keep the message readable on a phone. Do not invent offers or customer reviews.
How to judge the result
Inspect phone numbers, spelling, image edges, and readability at mobile size. Before exporting, check whether selected templates, fonts, or stock elements are premium and whether their license fits your use.
Limitations and who it may suit
The availability of an AI feature and the licensing of a design element are separate questions. Verify both. An AI-generated image can still contain visual mistakes; inspect hands, product details, signage, and brand elements before publication.
A candidate for creators or small businesses that need an editable visual workflow. For a fair comparison, build the same post in both Canva and Adobe Express and compare the actual export.
